To those of you who follow us on social media you will know that we are quite active. There are not many days when we are not posting on Facebook, tweeting on Twitter or pinning on Pinterest!

A few weeks ago we had ‘Blue Week’ on Twitter and Facebook. You may have guessed by last months newsletter that we think Blue is going to be big this year. It was great therefore the response we had from retailers including the installation below which was tweeted to us by Carpet Studio of Glasgow with the title ‘Blue Wednesday!’.

Our Marquette Plaid range is proving very popular at Swadlincote based furnishings retailer, Toons. They selected our colour MP15 Rowan Maize to be the chosen floorcovering in one of their most popular room sets at their recently refurbished store. As you can see from the images the overall effect is stunning and has been reflected in increased interest in the range with Toons.

At Adam Carpets we are always looking at ways to provide added value to our brand and our ranges. This year has seen us launch our unique Mood Board POS which has become very popular. We were asked to participate in ‘The Flooring Store of the Future Consumer’ at the Harrogate Show. For this we included fabrics and paints on the boards.

Since Harrogate, we have been busy visiting shows like Decorex and London Design Week, as well as talking to more paint and fabric companies. One message is becoming clearer, Blue is going to be a massive colour in 2016. As one senior executive said to us ‘Blue is the new Grey’.

At Adam Carpets we have over 20 different Blues in our ranges and that’s before you count aqua, stripes or turquoise.

We have added a new Pinterest board highlighting some of our Blues along with design ideas, it is called ‘Beautiful Blues’

Adam Carpets have launched ‘Pure Brit!’. This exciting new twist range is made with undyed British Wool and has one of the smallest carbon footprints of any carpet on the market. With a pile weight of 40oz and a heavy domestic rating, this range is suitable for even the most demanding rooms in any home.

Key points:

  • An 80/10/10 wool rich carpet made using undyed British Wool
  • The wool has been sourced from British flocks raised by British farmers
  • The wool has been sent to British spinners to be spun into yarn
  • The yarn is then delivered to Adam Carpets, a long established British manufacturer
  • The carpet is sent out to retailers and homes within the UK ensuring a low carbon footprint

Pure Brit! FAQ’s

We asked Eamonn Prescott, Sales Director at Adam Carpets, about the new range:

Q. Why 80/10/10 and not 100% wool?

A. Over many years and tests the 80/20 or 80/10/10 blend has proven to be the most robust and durable choice for yarn in a twist carpet. We wanted to ensure that our carpets are suitable for the areas that our customers will be installing them into.

Q. If the wool is undyed, where does the colour come from?

A. The colour comes from two parts. Firstly, the majority of the colour comes from the fleece which is determined by the breed. We are one of very few manufacturers who specify the breed of sheep that we want our wool to come from. Second, the coloured man made fibre is blended with the wool.

Q. Why use undyed wool?

A. Although many customers may prefer to have colour, there is no doubt that there is a growing trend towards undyed wool products, whether that is in carpets or indeed fabrics. The natural fleeces that we have selected have created a wonderful palette that we thinks suits the undyed trend right now.

Our loyal customers here at Adam Carpets continue to amaze us with their inventive window displays. This month we have A J Rogers of Bromley (below) and Wordsley Carpets of Wordsley (above) with their use of our Mood Boards in their windows.

We would like to thank Rogers and Wordsley for sending us these images. Good window displays can make a massive impact on your businesses and attract customers into your store.

This month we received an email from Louise (end user) regarding the mood boards:

“I just spotted it as I was looking at other carpets in Cardiff. It was a really nice way to see a quick selection of a colour scheme rather than flicking through a huge pile of samples!”

A few days later we received a message from the retailer that an order had been taken on the back of the customer using the boards.

Always great to get feedback, good or bad, from retailers and end users.Mood Board AJ Rogers
