Our thanks to East Coast Carpets of Louth for these wonderful images of our Catherine range installed onto one of their clients staircases.

Adam Carpets stripes collections are still proving popular. This month we had installations sent to us by Hart Carpets of Hartley Witney in Hampshire and also by Bridge Street Flooring of Buckingham. Our thanks to them for these wonderful images.
Hart’s used our VS03 from our Revelation range which is pictured first, whilst Bridge Street used SK30 Pistachio from our ever popular Kasbah Stripe, pictured below.
Visitors to our stand at the show received a treat when they were able to view all 126 colours that had passed through Fine Worcester in one place. We were able to track down all of our A4 folders and launch cards from 1991 and an impressive display they made.
Followers of us on Facebook and Twitter will know that the marathon task of posting and tweeting every single colour we ever did has begun, but seeing them all together brought a lot interest and some surprise at how the colours had changed over the years and how some colours had come back in very similar shades.
Our stand this year featured a new wall display which was commissioned to celebrate the 25 years anniversary. The display featured all the features and benefits that one associates with Fine Worcester Twist plus quotes from retailers about its quality and why they like it so much.
Also on the display was a brief timeline out lining the history of Fine Worcester and some of its more notable moments. The five points were:
May 1991 – Fine Worcester Twist is launched with 20 initial colours
May 2002 – An additional 14 colours were added to the range bringing the number of colours up to 65 (the same number as today)
June 2006 – Fine Worcester Twist FW52 is installed into the main parliament buildings in Stockholm on behalf of the Swedish government. At 2,994 sq/m it remains the largest single installation of Fine Worcester anywhere in the world.
February 2015 – Adam Carpets introduce the ‘Hugo & Ella’ collection for Fine Worcester Twist. This is the first time any new launch of colours has been done as a named collection. The response is amazing. The themes are ‘Blues & Pinks’ and are also named as Pantones ‘Colours of the Year for 2016′ some ten months later.
May 2016 – Fine Worcester Twist celebrates 25 years of successful production.
There are of course many, many more memorable milestones which we will touch on over the next couple of months.
The Buying Group National Floor Show (BGNFS) took place at Solihull recently. Mixed weather did not deter members from attending and we saw retailers from all the buying groups on our stand.
There’s no doubt what the main attraction was and that was the amazing carpet put together by Tony Cook and Lee Harrison. Each letter was cut by hand, as was the ‘FW25′ logo. The result was a stunning border to our stand celebrating the 25 years of Fine Worcester.
In all 36 of the 65 current colours were used including all 11 of the original 20 that are still active today.
Our Castlemead Twist was recently installed at the Institute for Contemporary Art in their prestigious headquarters on The Mall in London.
Although more renowned as a domestic product, Castlemead Twist actually achieves a medium contract rating and has been fitted into many commercial projects.
Using a high quality 2-ply yarn, this 42oz range was installed in colour CD106 Squirrel Grey. Both the contractor and the ICA were delighted with the end result.
Social media is a wonderful thing and this month we have started the mammoth task of posting every single colour (there’s 126) that have been in Fine Worcester across our social media platforms of Twitter and Facebook. Thank you for everyone who has liked, retweeted or commented on those, your feedback is appreciated.
Over the next few newsletters we will also be bringing the colourbank up to date by starting with these original 20 and then showing images of every update until we get up to the present day. Next month will show how the range jumped from 20 to 26 colours almost straight away as the success of the range was instant.
You will probably see some familiar colours above. In fact of the original 20 colours over half of them, 11 in total, are still in the range today. This shows that by extensively researching our colours we can get truly timeless classics that will never go out of fashion.
Some of the colours that were eventually dropped from the original selection have also come back in very similar shades. As you can see Blue was very popular when the range was launched, but until last year when the ‘Hugo’ collection was introduced, Fine Worcester had been five years without a true ‘Blue’ in the collection as the popularity had faded. Regular readers of this newsletter will know that that particular situation has now changed!
The logo is made from ten colours of the current colourbank using some original colours such as FW16 Cropthorne Cypress, as well as some of the most recent like FW126 Henwick Heart.
“We wanted a logo that illustrated both the timeless colours that have been in Fine Worcester since the beginning and also the more modern on-trend shades that keeps Fine Worcester ahead of the competition” explained Sales Director, Eamonn Prescott.
“The circular shape reflects rolls of carpets, whilst the stylish font used in the ‘FW25′ relates to Adam Carpets stylish approach as a company.”
The logo will play a big part in the celebrations planned to start at the Buying Group National Floor Show in May and running up to The Flooring Show in Harrogate in September.
Adam Carpets iconic flagship range, Fine Worcester Twist, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Throughout 2016 we will be sharing the thoughts and memories of some of the influential people who have shaped this hugely successful and well respected range.
We will also highlight significant moments and colour launches and plot its history from 1991 right up to the present day.
The BGNFS at Solihull in May and the Flooring Show at Harrogate in September will also showcase this wonderful carpet, it’s rich history of colour and why it stands alone as, what we believe, to be the best tufted carpet on the market today.
A big thank you to Paul and Jim at Avonvale Carpets in Bath for tweeting and posting this beautiful installation of Castlemead Velvet Stripe – CVS14 High Seas (Blue again, just saying)
This is how Avonvale described the project on their Facebook page:
Castlemead Velvet Stripe on a stairs (with turned edges) and landing in Larkhall, Bath. We re-used the clients stairrods.
This is an interesting stripe as it’s symetrical which means it lines up easier all the way up.
Needless to say the client is delighted as are we.
“Avonvale Carpets. Beautiful flooring. Fitted perfectly.”
We agree entirely!
